Big Changes Around Here!

I am working on posting the photos from the party, which will be up shortly.

Meanwhile, Solly has been busy busy. He is standing on his own, although not well yet. He is being moved to the Toddler Room at daycare on Monday (!). And, most notably, during the family visit, he suddenly learned to talk.

His words so far: doggy, Babaloo (baba, first word), Mama, Daddy, hat, duck, up (ut), down (dow), and his favorite word, owl.
Do these counts as words?: uh-oh, mmmmmmm

He has even learned to direct! Not just his grandparents, but people walking down the street!

First Birthday Makeover

For his birthday, Grandma Carol and Grandpa Carl, and Bubbe and Poppy came to visit. I managed to get out of jury duty for the day so we could do some important firsts: first haircut and first shoes!

Before:

I guess Babaloo found his old look to be... ho hum!

Solly and his entourage go to get a haircut.

He did great!

He looks so grown up!

The after shots.

Then on to Nordstrom's for some new shoes.

Solly had a ball at the shoe store!

Shopping can be fun! They had a colorful fish tank and we got a free baloon and a stuffed doll named "Nordy" who may or may not be a big toe.

All in all a fun day! Lots of love for the birthday boy!

In honor of Solly's birthday today, here is a look back on the past year.

And to close, this one from the morning we brought him home from the hospital.

Thanks Bubbe and Poppy!

Solly got a birthday gift this morning that he really enjoyed! The first clip is the first time he tried it, followed by his progress over a relatively short period of time! Thanks Bubbe and Poppy!

Dog Days of Summer

He is growing up so fast! When we got back from the East Coast, we started eating dinners together--starting with a salmon bbq. He really loves salmon, which is a good thing given that he is from the Pacific Northwest!

His "official" 11 month photo!

This month's outtakes were pretty spot on.

Last weekend we went for a hike--all four of us!

Solly was up for the whole drive, then promptly fell asleep for most of the hike, and then was up for the whole drive home!

Happy dog!

A nice time at the top. No good shots of the beautiful waterfall, but lots of a beautiful baby!

Babaloo is exhausted from pulling me up the hill. He also pulled me down in record time, but unfortunately he sprained my ankle along the way (after this photo).

These two are really getting tight.

Getting changed on a tree!

Solly had his first trip to the dentist. Looks scary, huh?

This weekend we went up to Seattle to see Melissa and Luc before she pops. Luc got some baby practice in.

Last day in New York--Cousin Ace!

Our last day in New York we met the New Jersey Beckers halfway--at a park on the West Side. It was a quick visit for lots of reasons, but we got to enjoy the sunshing, and most importantly, meet COUSIN ACE!

We mostly hung out on the ball field (of course), and got to see Luke and Katie's batting skill.

While Solly got to have another picnic in the park.

The kids are getting to be so grown up! It's hard not to think that this is what Solly will look like in a few years...

Katie is practically a teenager!

Solly is also starting to take on a more teenager-like demeanor, kickin' back in his ride.

Playing on the swings.

At the end of the day, we tried to get a cousin shot. In this series we see Ace deciding on a different plan.

We had a great trip, but it is time to go home!
