The big party!

The big day was finally here! After much preparation, the party was a great success. Most of the decorations were either reusable or compostable. And of course there was too much food!

Solly was actually still napping when people started coming over. He woke up and sat quietly waving at his window to the party outside. He was very happy to see everyone.

Lots of friends and family came.

The scene.

Scotty bought a kiddie pool, that was very popular all day. It was over 90 so water was key.

Water table fun!

In addition to four babies, and many kids, we had four happy dogs.

Elon showing Solly how to eat watermelon.

Once he started, he couldn't stop. We had to pry a dry rind out of his hands. He takes after his watermelon-loving daddy.

Peter made an ice cream cake for the event.

Ice cream hand print on my pants...

...and on Babaloo!

A fun day for all of us!

It was great to get some of the cousins together. Dawn got them matching shirts!

And Solly ended the party where he started it. In his crib.

As mentioned earlier, Solly has learned to direct grown ups.

And Bubbe...

He really has us wrapped around his little finger.

Hanging out with Grandpa in Gig Harbor.

"C'mon Grandpa!"

And, to finish off, the last monthly shot with this set up. The official 12 month shot.

Solly is so done with this.

It's been quite a year. What is next?

Pre Birthday

Before I finish posting the photos from Solly's birthday, I need to catch up a bit.

Solly has been helping out with Food Co-op outreach! Hanging with Anna and Mommy.

For our anniversary, P and I got a sitter and went to "Burning Beast", a combination between Burning Man and Iron Chef. Basically, a bunch of famous chefs go to a field in the middle of no where and cook an amazing meal with limited tools. Each focused on a different meat. We opened the bottle of wine we got on our honeymoon!

Of course, they needed a trapeze artist!

The Burning of the Beast, a big wooden goat.

A little barbaric, but so yummy!

Big Changes Around Here!

I am working on posting the photos from the party, which will be up shortly.

Meanwhile, Solly has been busy busy. He is standing on his own, although not well yet. He is being moved to the Toddler Room at daycare on Monday (!). And, most notably, during the family visit, he suddenly learned to talk.

His words so far: doggy, Babaloo (baba, first word), Mama, Daddy, hat, duck, up (ut), down (dow), and his favorite word, owl.
Do these counts as words?: uh-oh, mmmmmmm

He has even learned to direct! Not just his grandparents, but people walking down the street!

First Birthday Makeover

For his birthday, Grandma Carol and Grandpa Carl, and Bubbe and Poppy came to visit. I managed to get out of jury duty for the day so we could do some important firsts: first haircut and first shoes!

Before:

I guess Babaloo found his old look to be... ho hum!

Solly and his entourage go to get a haircut.

He did great!

He looks so grown up!

The after shots.

Then on to Nordstrom's for some new shoes.

Solly had a ball at the shoe store!

Shopping can be fun! They had a colorful fish tank and we got a free baloon and a stuffed doll named "Nordy" who may or may not be a big toe.

All in all a fun day! Lots of love for the birthday boy!

In honor of Solly's birthday today, here is a look back on the past year.

And to close, this one from the morning we brought him home from the hospital.

Thanks Bubbe and Poppy!

Solly got a birthday gift this morning that he really enjoyed! The first clip is the first time he tried it, followed by his progress over a relatively short period of time! Thanks Bubbe and Poppy!
