Solly at Nine Months (plus Mother's Day)

I want to get his nine month shot up before he is ten months!

My first Mother's Day.

Solly does not like order. We call him Dr. Entropy.

Solly and Peter also made me three kinds of crepes!

Solly continues to eat like a champ. A very messy messy champ.

He's started eating rusks this morning. They're pretty good!

Solly's first Yankee's hat (courtesy of Bubbe).

Solly has now been to SIX scientific meetings.

Number 5, South Sound Science Symposium.

Number 6, UW Undergraduate Research Symposium.

He got to meet his new friend Eliot at the symposium. Becca and I had to change the boys on the floor in a random office. Something I'm sure we'll remember...

It's been a busy quarter! A very wet and muddy field trip last week.

Catching Up: April

It's been a while since I posted. As usual, Solly's been quite busy lately. Here are some highlights.

Volunteering again at the UWT Giving Garden.

Great Uncle Mark came to visit, so we had an excuse to get together with Cousins Sasha and Roman. Sasha was particularly taken with Solly.

Roman is getting so big!

It was great to get to see Uncle Mark. It's pretty convenient that Jesse and I ended up in the same part of the world!

Solly's is eating three meals a day now. He can drink from a cup by himself! He's still not great with finger foods (he can pick them up but he still hasn't mastered chewing and swallowing), but his tastes have expanded. Interestingly, he loves spinach and yogurt, but will not stand for mango or cantaloupe. I'm sure his aversion to sweet things will pass soon.

At Joyce's birthday party, he got a chance to see the work friends outside of work.

They were somewhat surprised when we went home at 7. That's a late night these days!
We are finally getting started on the "grounds" of our house. Solly was helping by directing.

One quick shot of me at work! Teaching two and half classes this quarter. That might be why I am not posting as much. Summer is coming!

Our little guy is growing up fast.

Walking Video!

This was last week. He has already figured out how to get from laying down to standing by pulling up on one of us. I'll try to get video of that soon as well.

But for now, enjoy!

Next year with teeth!

Things have been busy around here! Since I last wrote, Solly has started daycare, grew another tooth, learned a bunch of new "words", started to eat yogurt and finger foods, and most importantly, learned to STAND! Busy boy!

First up, I finally am getting around to posting his eight month portrait.

The "making of" photos demonstrate his new love of ripping paper.

A play date with his buddy, Elon.

Passover was much fun! Here is one of two full tables.
Plus another table for the food!
We had 13 adults and four little ones, including his friend, Leo Hamm.

Baby Elon was there to celebrate.

Passover chaos.

Chad Gadya masks!

Solly's babysitter, Becca, was there too!

So at the beginning of the night, Solly wasn't really standing. Then he saw that Leo can do it, and he realized that so could he!

Playing with Leo.

Solly's turn to eat!

The day after Passover, the Selkin clan packed up for a short hike. Babaloo now rides shotgun, and I've been demoted to the back with Solly. Sadly, once we got there, we realized that (despite the posted rules online), no dogs are allowed at Tacoma Nature Center. Bummer.

A short hike around the lake.

Getting in touch with the trees...
Phew, what a busy weekend!

Now things are getting back to normal, and Solly has been learning lots of new things. Looking forward to what he's up to by the next post!
